SUMMER, WINTER and the RITE OF SPRING

Commissioned by Ballet Moscow in 2021, this 90 minute piece reimagines the tribal community of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring as a post apocalyptic rural Russian community in an unspecified future. The ballet moves through summer and winter in this community, climaxing with a full performance of a new Rite of Spring ballet by Arthur Pita, ending with the dawn after the sacrifice.
Stravinsky's score is presented in full, as a standalone section, framed by new music to hold the expanded narrative.
